Rain Reign

— feeling smile

                                                           Rain, Reign

                                                     By: Ann M. Martin

I read the book Rain Reign by Ann M. Martin. The book was great overall. The first chapter wasn't that great of a "pull-in" but I'm glad that I stuck with it because if I hadn't then I wouldn't have gotten to experience the roller coaster of emotions that Rain Reign provides. I felt like I was in the story. The imagery was GREAT I could see every detail from the dog to their front yard.

11 year old Rose Howard grew up in Hatford, New York with her dad Wesley Howard. She was diagnosed with high-functioning autism and she has a few odd obsessions. She is obsessed with homonyms, rules, and prime numbers. These obsessions interfered with her life more than you would think. Rose's father works at the J&R garage while Rose is at school, and after school when she gets home. One day he came home with a dog. Rose decided to name her Rain which she mentioned in the story was also Reign because it was a rainy day. Later in the story there is a hurricane and during the night Rain was let out without a collar. The next day Rose woke up and all she knew was that her dog was gone and it had stormed very badly. Rain Reign is a very emotional book. I admit I cried a few times during it. I think it was totally worth reading. I liked it because I didn't want to put it down and I could understand some of Rose's struggles
